Beerstock 5060 Update

Member, Brian Tetreault shared new information on this year’s Beerstock event.  It will take place at the same location on Aug 5th.  The theme this year is based on the movie Strange Brew.   Clubs will need to start working on theme ideas for the booth.  The plan is to show up at 11:00 to set up the booth and the event should kick off around 2pm. Curfew is 2am.  Members can stay in a tent, bring a camper/trailer, or make it a day trip; Camping is encouraged especially if you do not have a designated driver. Any money made goes to the Rotary.  Any left over is donated to Polio Plus and those funds are matched by Bill Gates. Updates will continue to be posted on the Beerstock Slack channel.

Scott gave an informational talk on capturing Co2 during pressure fermentation.  He provided examples of pressurized and non-pressurized beers for the members to sample as well as temperature differentiated samples.  Thank you Scott!

Upcoming Meetings/Events/Announcements

Slack Channel – See Garry if you’re interested or have questions on setting up or using the app.

Please fill out the Google form for Beerstock so we know what food/ beverages/ beer you plan to bring.  This is most helpful for organizers to determine where the, “holes,” are and we’re not left without necessary items for the event.   Thank you to everyone who has already filled out the form.

News from the Shop

  • Reminder: Chris is offering the opportunity to brew with a kit provided by him (no cost to you).  This beer is to be brewed on your system, at the shop.  You will be taking it home for fermentation.
  • When finished, samples will be made available for Chris to evaluate. Given a favorable review, he would then consider brewing the beer on his system and making it available for sale in the shop. Chris is looking for 5 gallon sample batches to be brewed.  If you’re interested, let him know and he’ll hook you up with batch ingredients.  Chris is requesting that batches are brewed on Saturdays in the shop.
  • Focus will primarily be on extract batches with some specialty grains.  There will be some all grain batches as well.
