Big Brew Review
HoPS members at Fermentation Initiative participated in a Big Brew event last weekend at the shop. Members, Scott and Justin brewed on the patio at F.I. in the company of a few others who showed up to join in. Chris suggested that it would be nice to have brew-ins with club members more often during the year. On-site activity drew a few members of the public in to inquire about the process and the club offerings.

Beerstock 5060 Update
Member, Brian Tetreault shared new information on this year’s Beerstock event. It will take place at the same location on Aug 5th. The theme this year is based on the movie Strange Brew. Clubs will need to start working on theme ideas for the booth. The plan is to show up before noon to set up the booth and the event should kick off around 3pm. Members can stay in a tent, bring a camper/trailer, or make it a day trip; Camping is encouraged especially if you do not have a designated driver.

Other Meeting Business
A homebrew store in Port Orchard where Kelly works just had its first official/ unofficial Pale competition. HoPS members, Elliot and Andrew won 2nd place. Congratulations! In July they will be holding a Hefeweizen competition – see Kelly for details on entering or judging; entry is free.

The cheese making demonstration was a success. We have 2 month old bleu cheese! Rick Gray shared the results of the process in this batch. For more information chat with Rick at the next meeting.

Today after the meeting at F.I. we’re heading over to Black Fleet for a quick tour of the facilities and a talk with the Lead Brewer on using smoked malts in brewing.
